From the supplier: Philadelphia's Central East Middle School has embarked on a unique program that relies on technology to expose students to a rich set of competencies. The program's course is targeted at students who are falling behind the rest of the class. The program gives students much of their instruction by computer, and pairs them in twos for cooperative learning. The program offers 90 lessons in math computation, word problems, geometry and algebra. The cooperative approach helps students catch up to the others by gaining a deeper understanding of the mathematical concepts. The computer does not completely replace the teacher; instead, the teacher functions as a coach, observes progress, and organizes the students into groups. The system is highly flexible, and many of the students have significantly improved their test scores.
