From the supplier: The Urban Pioneers program in the William D. Hinton school of Chicago, IL, has helped lure children from fifth through eighth grade to attend special instruction in math and science. The school is located in Chicago's poor south side, and most of the children are African Americans who come from the poverty-ridden housing projects nearby. The voluntary program, which is run by Jerry McNeely, helps instill an early interest in the hard sciences and exposes the children to positive African American role models.
