From the supplier: OS/2 2.0 offers a flexible 32-bit operating system designed to meet the need of the educational user for a powerful integrated platform with an effective graphical user interface. The revised operating system is able to utilize the more than 30,000 software applications that have been developed for MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows and the previous 16-bit OS/2 system. At the same time, it supports multitasking, accesses more memory and boosts productivity by providing a means of utilizing the processing power of the Intel 80386SX and higher microprocessor. The OS/2 2.0 is also suited for heterogeneous client/server networks based on still-emerging hardware and software platforms. It presents an easily used Workplace Shell to the user, simplifying a range of tasks from printing to file management. The revised system also offers an extensive set of productivity tools, including a file seeker, a screen saver, terminal emulation and information management utilities. It also is designed, with its fast thread multitasking, to support the complex synchronization required to run multimedia software.
