From the supplier: Researchers believe that 'hands-on' learning experiences that are integrated with mathematics, reading, multimedia and other technologies provide the best format for learning science. The statewide adoption processes, including California's 1992 science adoption, are increasingly focusing on student-inquiry processes that utilize new technologies instead of the traditional textbook approach. The Full Option Science System (FOSS) is a hands-on/minds-on learning approach to science that was adopted by the University of California's Center for Multisensory Learning at the Lawrence Hall of Science. The program is integrated with videodisc and multimedia technologies to form the Britannica Science System (BSS), marketed by the Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corp. The current system is for kindergarten through sixth grade, and a middle school version is currently under development.
