From the supplier: Recognizing the potential of microcomputer-based instruction for facilitating the teaching of physics, IBM and the Annenburg/CPB Project sponsored the CUPLE consortium in 1990. After two years of development, CUPLE, or the Comprehensive Unified Physics Learning Environment, has reached the prototype phase. The system now includes WinPhys, a customized physics programming environment that involves an extension of Borland International's TurboPascal for WIndows. It also includes a problem-solving spreadsheet program, data acquisition tools, multimedia video tools to enhance the graphic modeling of physics problems in the laboratory and databases of demonstrations and experiments. The system is designed for a 32-bit central processing unit, and is intended for the IBM PS/2 70 with 4Mbytes of memory an an 80Mbyte hard disk. It utilizes multitasking as a critical component, with the initial version being built with IBM's Advanced Academic System 2.0 for an MS-DOS and MS Windows platform with the aid of Asymetrix Toolbook program development software. Eventually, the system will be extended to run on OS/2 and Unix platforms.
