Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Lack of proofreading makes this book almost worthless   September 18, 2008
Mary Keating (Maryland)
My child completed this book over the summer, as part of the requirements for her middle school. I had to help her when she was taking 15, 30 minutes on a problem. I found that some problems were simply structured so that there was no solution. It drives the kids crazy. One I recall asked for a set of 8 numbers that had the following range, mean, median, mode. Nice idea, but in the answer section you see that the answer was based on 7 numbers, not 8. Another had a grandmother using clues to get the granddaughter to figure out how long she'd been married, and how long the mother had been married. But when you reasoned it out, granny got married at 14 (this matched the answer in the back, but not the clue that granny married after college at age 22). It was more than those two issues, they were all over the place. A college math major could have proofed this for a few hundred bucks, but no. Avoid.
