Having Difficulty with Problem Solving? No Problem April 23, 2008 Elena Carlson (California) I reviewed all six of the new Mastering Essential Math Skills at the 2008 NCTM Math Conference. As a math consultant, I was impressed by all of them. This particular title teaches problem solving properly. Problem solving is a topic in math that is often neglected and for this reason, many students experience difficulty with it. The book begins with simple one-step problems and methodically works its way into multi-step problems. Tips, strategies, and examples make the individual lessons fun and easy to follow. Also, the book has an excellent review of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. If your students follow the daily lessons dilegently, they WILL become proficient in the area of problem solving. Highly recommended.
