Product Description
The old Sequential Math exams are gradually being phased out of the New York State Regents curriculum. A brand new and more rigorous exam, Regents Math A, is already being offered as replacement for all of the former Sequential Math I and the first half of Sequential Math II exams, and soon will replace them entirely. Barron's brand new Regents Exams and Answers book for this subject covers all topics on the new Math A exam. It also presents all seven of the actual New York State Regents Math A exams that have been issued to date. All exams appear in this book with answers to all questions. These ever popular guides include study tips, test-taking strategies, score analysis charts, and other valuable features. They are an ideal source of practice and test preparation. The detailed answer explanations make each exam a practical learning experience.

5 out of 5 stars Great for practicing for the regents   June 16, 2003

This book was a really great addition to my studying for the Math A regents. The book is just past regents, so it's the same exact type of questions you would get on the actual regents. It also helps to explain the answers. The only thing I would say negatively is that we received green books for two dollars in class that had all the regents in them, but not the answers or the answers explained. So if you're going to get the green books in class and your class is going over the answers, it may not be worth it. I still found it helpful to go over things on my own, and I would definitely recommend getting this book. I passed the Math A regents in January 2003 with a 90.

Just make sure that you get the right (latest ) addition. This one (april 2001) is NOT the latest.

5 out of 5 stars Barron's Math A by Leff   November 13, 2005

This is a complete rendition of combined algebra with some introductory geometry and a smattering of mathematical proofs.
The thrust of the work is preparation for the N.Y.S. regents
examination offered multiple times yearly. Over the years,
the algebra exam has evolved from classic algebra to an amalgum
of algebraic subjects, college algebra and some geometry.

Sample subject areas are as follows: (these mirror the Regents)
- real numbers
- scientific notation
- translating words to algebraic equations
- solving for inequalities
- Venn diagrams
- graphs
- parallel lines
- triangular forms i.e. Isoceles
- polynomials
- the difference of squares
- evaluating algebraic equations
- simplification of algebraic equations
- sine, cosine and tangent proofs
( remember that the sine/cosine= tangent and cos/sine=cotangent)

- spherical forms
- trapezoids i.e. Area= 1/2 (B1 + B2)x height

The standard regents examination multiplier is approximately 1.2
from the raw score to the scaled or combined score for all
candidates. This exam requires some practice for the reasonably
conversant candidate.
