Absolutely Fantastic December 6, 1999 Dale Kubler (Atlanta, Georgia) 135 out of 135 found this review helpful
This has to be one of the best mathematical reference books published today. It covers a wide range of topics from number theory, algebra, geometry, fractions, probability, statistics, ratios, etc. in a simple, highly illustrated, and easily referenced index to almost any math problem encountered by elementary to high school. Highly recommend you keep a copy at home for children';s homework help and one at the office for reference. It's that good. Wish Amazon would place a few illustrations from the book on-line to enable prospective buyers a chnace yo see how well the authors present this material. Should be on anyone with children's MUST HAVE list.
A "MUST HAVE" for every student and parent September 5, 2000 64 out of 65 found this review helpful
WOW! I am not under 13, just a Middle School Math teacher who does not like publishing email addresses over the net. This book is great. The agony many parents go through trying to make sense of the way traditional text books explain (or fail to explain) mathematical concepts can now be eased. The book is written in plain language and covers every imaginable topic that a Middle School student would cover in their math class. Students and parents both will be able to look up the needed topic (topics are neatly indexed and grouped appropriately) and bring much needed clarity to the sometimes vague notes taken by the student in class and perhaps refresh the students memory as to what the teacher presented in class. I wish every student had one of these books. I recommend it strongly to all of my students. :)
A wonderful resource!!! February 11, 2001 K. Fisher (Ventura, CA) 48 out of 48 found this review helpful
As a sixth grade math teacher, this is the first book I recommend to my students. MATH ON CALL shows step by step processes for every operation and explains complex ideas, such as division by fractions and multiplication with decimals, in a conceptual manner. This book is a must-have for every student, ages 8-18!
The best darn math reference book ever February 6, 2002 34 out of 35 found this review helpful
My son's 7th grade math teacher recommended this. I don't know what we would have done without it. The school's math textbook was useless. If there was any problem not understanding a math concept, we would just whip this baby out and it was easy to understand. Math homework couldn't have been any less frustrating. My younger son now takes it with him to school for doing his math work at school. It is invaluable.
Math On Call - An Invaluable Tool May 20, 2001 lizzy4451 (USA) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
My child's middle school made this book available a couple of years ago. It has proven to be an invaluable resource for middle school and high school math. It provides examples and explanations for almost any middle/high school math problem. It contains more-easily-understood examples than the text books. It's been an invaluable tool for me as a parent.
