Product Description
This best selling author team explains concepts simply and clearly, without glossing over difficult points. Problem solving and mathematical modeling are introduced early and reinforced throughout, so that when students finish the course, they have a solid foundation in the principles of mathematical thinking. This comprehensive, evenly paced book provides complete coverage of the function concept and integrates substantial graphing calculator materials that help students develop insight into mathematical ideas. The authors' attention to detail and clarity, as in James Stewart's market-leading Calculus text, is what makes this text the market leader.

5 out of 5 stars Great book   June 29, 2007

This math book helped me get into calculus without much of a mathematical background. I messed around in high school too much :p. For three months I intensely studied this book - I nearly answered all the question. I bought the answer guide to help me see what I was doing wrong. The book is easy to read and understand; all the steps are explained in an orderly manner. If you get stuck, try reading the chapter again, you might have missed a critical part of the puzzle.

Many wonderful long night hours with this book. It's hard enough to keep your attention and make you want to strive to improve.

5 out of 5 stars The best book to prepare for calculus!!   September 5, 2008
Freya
I had this textbook for my precalculus class, almost never attended the clas, but got all A's on the test and A final grade -- all thanks to this book. You literally don't need a teacher, or any other sources, even if you not a science person, you will be able to understand the concepts. It has a lot of sample problems solved in each section, and then at the end of each section, the problems are listed from very simple to moderate to high difficulty. So once you will solve the simple problems, that will give you ability to solve moderate problems, and then difficult ones from there...

4 out of 5 stars Good text for online class.   June 30, 2008

I'm using this book in an online trig class. Despite the lack of class instruction I'm able to move along by reading the text and doing the problems. It's a little wordy at times, but, as I'm learning in the online class, math can be a difficult subject to express in words alone.

This book helps when you miss a class session. I was able to keep up when I read the text on days missed.
