I used this book for two years during my Polytechnic days. The explanations are very clear. Examples also demonstrated the concepts in a manner which is very detailed (i.e. no skipping of steps).

Highly recommended!

Starts with the number line and goes all the way to calculus and differential equations. Easy to understand. Very well organized. The book is great for learning material for the first time. It's even better as a reference.

I went through this book cover to cover during my engineering classes at Purdue. Every five to ten years or so, I pick up the newest edition just to have as a reference.

Very readable, which is rare for many books of this type.

5 out of 5 stars Basic Technical Mathematics with Calculus 8th Edition (hard cover   March 18, 2008
Dennis K. Siemer (Mankato, MN)
I'm currently using the 8th edition of this book to increse my math skills. This is well written and thorough. I've had the second edition since the early '70s and still use it as a quick reference. The new one includes the use of a graphing calculator and has many more practical problems in the excercises. Very good for basic math as well as advanced coursework. Topics are limited to technical subjects and it makes a great companion and resource when studying calculus based physics.
