Product Description This text is geared towards a one-semester course in applied calculus. This extremely readable, highly regarded, and widely adopted text presents innovative ways for applying calculus to real-world situations in the business, economics, life science, and social science disciplines. The texts' straightforward, engaging approach fosters the growth of both the student's mathematical maturity and his/her appreciation for the usefulness of mathematics. The authors' tried and true formula - pairing substantial amounts of graphical analysis and informal geometric proofs with an abundance of hands-on exercises - has proven to be tremendously successful with both students and instructors.

Great :) September 9, 2008 Ebie87 (Coral Springs, FL) Product was sent within the alloted time, if not sooner and was in great shape!
calculus textbook November 8, 2008 J. P. Weissinger (Bricktown, NJ United States) Product was as described and arrived quickly. It was ordered less than a week before my daugter went to college and arrived before she needed it.
Explanations too brief, no good solutions manual February 4, 2008 Douglas Long (San Rafael, CA USA) The explanations are far to dense with too few explanations. I am a pretty good studier but every section quiz left me scrambling bac to the text part to figure out how we were to work out the problem. The bood would do well with more examples, discussions of tricks used to solve problems, etc. Desperately needs a good solutions manual. The one that is on the market is only a smattering of problems, little discussion of the problems, and not updated to current edition.
Not bad. July 28, 2008 D. Romagnoli (West Palm Beach, FL USA) Calculus in itself is a complex subject. The textbook gives examples and if you really read into the examples you will understand. I am no math expert and I was able to succeed with this book. The last few chapters are the toughest and the explanations are a bit hazy in these sections. But all in all it is isnt bad at explaining how to do calculus.
