Product Description World geography, world cultures…a world students can understand
The World and Its People is a middle school program co-authored by National Geographic. This program introduces students to an enriched view of the interrelationships of geography, history, economics, government, citizenship, and current events—in one compelling package. A strong geographic thread is interwoven with history, government, and current events to analyze different regions of the world and the issues they face.
Suitable for a world geography or world cultures class, The World and Its People is available as a full survey; Eastern Hemisphere; and Western Hemisphere, Europe, and Russia.

You can do better. June 5, 2007 C. Hill (Ocala, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used this text for several years, but only because I had no choice. I have trouble with a textbook when it states that North Korea has a communist government and South Korea has a non-communist government. Has the editorial staff never heard of a democracy or perhaps a republic. Give me a break. Even the maps are unacceptable, even though National Geographic is their partner. The text we had prior to this was the Silver Burdett publication. I've missed the Silver Burdett ever since. The script in the Glencoe is essentially the 'principal products of Peru' approach to the reading. This textbook is dreadful. Do yourself a favor and go with a different publisher.
