 Excellent intro to the human body June 7, 1999

This text is a must for anyone planning to pursue a career in medicine or the allied health sciences. Clearly written, with the best illustrations I have seen anywhere. Med schools should have their students read this book in place of the many turgid and incomprehensible basic science texts.

I had this book when I took A&P a couple of years ago and I just loved it, especially the interactive CD-Rom. My daighter was 2 at the time and loved to watch the animated portion with heart sounds. She also loved to look at the skeleton in the book, running around shouting out names of her bones and pointing at them. :o) I had to sell it afterwards (needed the money) so when I started nursing school I kept thinking ,"I really wish I had kept that book as a reference!" SO I looked online and found the paperback version to purchase. It doesn't have the CD with it, but is still an excellent book. The illustrations are wonderful as well as realistic. All in all I would highly recommend this book to students and people interested in the human body alike.

I am beginning medical sch in the fall and needed a solid summer review book. This text is great. The first ~5 chapters are mostly review concerning organization of the body and various physiologic functions that covers most of the highlights from undergrad. The next section is a great introduction to histology, followed by the body systems, pointing out all bones, joints, muscles, blood vessels, etc. that will be covered again in Gross Anatomy, all while presenting a coherent and easy-to-read accompanying text. In addition the illustrations are WONDERFUL. No sacrifice of details ocurred here.
One of the major contributions of this text is the online study materials. Saladin has provided a plethora of study guides, review questions and exams, all with answers, relevant weblinks (the LUMEN histology slides and practicals are a must), crossword puzzles, and perhaps most helpful, labeling exercises, to help get a firm grasp of the material. Gross is a hard hard hard class, and unless some review is done prior, it's almost impossible to learn and retain all of the material required. This is an excellent summer review tool!

This was our assigned text for our college Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 classes. This book is quite descriptive and prepares any pre-med or pre-healthcare student for passing their A and P classes. I like how the muscles and nervous system are presented. Knowing the difference between the masseter and frontalis muslces is an example on how this book makes learning this subject easier. I also highly used the following which is on amazon:Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Patrick Leonardi
Also, Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology by Patrick Leonardi was another helpful book that made test preparation much easier. These last 3 books made studying easier because it showed me the type of questions that were asked on my A and P college exams. My study group and I used these 4 books and we all got A's in our classes.

I have used this for my anatomy/physiology classes and found it to be very descriptive & helpful.I have compared the 3rd & 4th edition, there is no difference what so ever; Saladin is a great author as well as a excellent teacher.
