Differential Equations Books

Differential equations, as an undergraduate course, is the study of ordinary differential equations; that is, finding functions that satisfy a given differential equation. The idea is to try to classify types of differential equations and supply methods for solving each. Topics usually include classifying and solving first-order differential equations including separable, exact, and linear first order differential equations. Also studied are second-order linear homogeneous differential equations with constant coefficients, nth order linear homogeneous differential equations, and the methods of undetermined coefficients and variation of parameters. Important additional topics to be covered are the series solutions to linear differential equations and the Laplace transform. In a differential equations course, attention can be placed on theoretical existence of solutions, applications to engineering and the sciences, or a splendid combination of both; however solving differential equations is usually the emphasis for an undergraduate course.
