1st Grade Math Books

Many 1st grade math books cover many topics involving algebra and geometric patterns and number sense including an introduction to numbers and how to operate with them. In particular, most 1st grade math books use place value to study sorting, clarifying, and comparing numbers. Addition and subtraction, including two and three digit numbers and exploring large numbers is also covered. Probability is often studied in 1st grade math books by using graphing, sorting, and counting techniques. Further, many types of measurements are introduced including measurement of length, height, distance, time, area, volume, weight, and money. Fractions are also introduced in 1st grade math, usually by using graphs and word problems. Geometry is also a main topic in 1st grade math books by studying lines, triangles, planes, and many other geometric shapes in two and three dimensions. A customary theme in studying geometry is to classify geometric objects by their common attributes, and this is emphasized in most 1st grade math books.
